The Auchentoshan Three Wood 43° is a highly regarded Lowlands single malt Scotch whisky, aged in three different types of casks, which gives it a rich and complex aromatic profile.
Its unique maturation process in American bourbon casks, Oloroso sherry casks, and Pedro Ximénez wine casks gives this whisky its distinctive character.
- Nose: Rich and sweet aromas of blackcurrant, brown sugar, orange, plum, and raisin dominate, with notes of caramel and a slight touch of tobacco or a subtle smoky note.
- Palate: The texture is soft, creamy, and syrupy, with a pronounced flavor of sherry, fruit syrup, and notes of hazelnut, cinnamon, and lemon. Some tasters perceive flavors of dark chocolate, liqueur cherries, and butter caramel, evoking a Black Forest cake.
- Finish: The finish is long and satisfying, described as fresh and fruity with a lingering woody sweetness and persistent notes of dried fruits, spices, and hints of caramel or chocolate.
